To have a little fun while participating in Movember, our hero for the month, BabyShowerForGuys.com has challenged a trio of very worthy dad bloggers to a mustache growing competition. Winner to receive funds donated to Movember in their name!
Sara McGinnis, our Content and Social Media Manager, will be creatively growing a mustache in a face-to-face battle for the most cash-worthy stash. Yes, ladies, you too can participate in Movember by becoming a MoSista!
Most importantly, BabyShowerForGuys.com invites any and all users to show their Movember support by uploading a photo of yourself, your baby, your damn dog or anything else you can adhere a mustache onto to our Flickr group. Join us in the Movember movement!
About the competition:
Charlie Capen of How to be a Dad is the father of a fine Irish lad named Finnegan who has aged to the terrible age of two. He says of Movember, "I decided to rock an uglystache because I really wanted to increase the number of strange looks I receive in a single day, and I wanted people to start calling me 'hoss.' There is a silly rumor going around that the only people worthy of the mustache are cops and porn stars. I wanted to prove them wrong."
The blogging champ is hip to the BabyShowerForGuys trend. "On the day of my wife's baby shower, I held my own daddy shower," shares Charlie. "But I assure you, no showers were taken. There was indoor skydiving, drinks, mini-golf, dodgeball and batting cages. In that order, of course. I was thirteen once more and never again."
Doug French, creator of Laid Off Dad, has been blogging since 2003 when he lost his job while supporting a wife and 15-month-old baby. A lot has changed since then. The now single father of two boys lives seven blocks from his ex-wife, and together they blog about co-parenting after divorce at When the Flames Go Up.
This year's mustache is inspired by a recent Deadwood viewing marathon. Specifically Doug says, "I've become a little obsessive over the greatness of Al Swearengen."
Whit Honea, blogging nomad extraordinaire, can be found on nearly any major parenting site on the web. This father of two boys currently resides in The Angeles and has been known to sip whiskey with the rich and famous at press junkets.
At the Honea Express (Honea rhymes with pony, ya see?) Whit waxes poetic about life as a father and freelancer. Movember promises to be an exciting month for the mustache grower. As the calendar turned the page he tweeted, "On the first day of Movember my mustache gave to me: A beer."
In just a few weeks we'll be sharing a video of each of our competitors' upper lip plumage growing process, culminating in a vote-off in which the best 'stache will grab the cash!
